15mm Neo-Assyrians
Later Sargonid Assyrian 680 BC to 609 BC. Like the Babylonians I've chosen this (TRIUMPH!) list as a base but over time the intention is to expand it to cover the earlier list and to be able to, maybe, field a double sized army. That's why, for anyone familiar with the lists in question, I'm always painting more stands than I strictly need. The figures are almost all Essex, some Museum accompanying the General in his chariot and the camp stand, also some Gladiator and Lurkio make up the alternate Horse Bow elements. I've stop/started the Assyrians for years, so some of these figures are quite old and have needed a going over of shading and highlighting to bring them closer to my current standard. Between the Babylonian and Assyrian armies I had only two chariots, so the old chariots and crews have been split between the two and modified quite a bit to squish them onto (mostly) a 40 x 40 stand. Utilizing the original colour schemes they have now evolved into Red chariots...
