15mm Neo-Assyrians

Later Sargonid Assyrian 680 BC to 609 BC.

Like the Babylonians I've chosen this (TRIUMPH!) list as a base but over time the intention is to expand it to cover the earlier list and to be able to, maybe, field a double sized army. That's why, for anyone familiar with the lists in question, I'm always painting more stands than I strictly need.

The figures are almost all Essex, some Museum accompanying the General in his chariot and the camp stand, also some Gladiator and Lurkio make up the alternate Horse Bow elements.
I've stop/started the Assyrians for years, so some of these figures are quite old and have needed a going over of shading and highlighting to bring them closer to my current standard. Between the Babylonian and Assyrian armies I had only two chariots, so the old chariots and crews have been split between the two and modified quite a bit to squish them onto (mostly) a 40 x 40 stand. Utilizing the original colour schemes they have now evolved into Red chariots for Assyria and blue for Babylon.

Chariots
4-horse chariots with four crewmen (including General).

Horsemen, equipped with felt-barded horses

Horse Bow
Scout horse archers

Raiders
Kallapani

Spear
Spearmen with long or conical shields

Archers
Bowmen

Light Foot

Skirmishers

Skirmishers

Rabble

The camp, my first scratch built attempt and a very vanilla effort it is. Plastic, thick paper, wire and lots of milliput. Then slathered in paint until I managed to wrestle it into presentability.
Somewhere along the way the options for the Assyrian camp have gotten a lot more interesting, so I expect at some point I'll be revisiting this in the future.

AS92 Assyrian King on foot with Scribes from Museum Miniatures. I love this set, just seems very appropriate for a "Great King" to be surrounded by scribes recording his every utterance for posterity.
